October: Ten Days That Shook the World - Metric Montage
Переглядів 3,6 тис.7 років тому
Fragment from Sergei Eisenstein's October, a celebratory dramatization of the 1917 October revolutions. In this specific fragment Sergei demonstrates "metric montage" which is one of the five forms of montage in Eisenstein's theory of montage, als known as Russian montage.
Bridget Jones' Diary - That was the moment

Simple use of a freeze frame. Clearly shows Bridget's ability to interfere in the syuzhet/story. This denotes not only her position as narrator but also a temporal and narrative gap between VO-Bridget and shown Bridget.
The Young Victoria 2009 - King's Birthday

Jean-Marc Vallee directed a touching and elaborate portrait of the British Queen Victoria, from which this fragment is taken. Shown is a grand dinner at the then King's palace. I usually use this scene when explaining the technique and use of focus in film.

Film by Tarsem Singh. Exquisite use of depth of field.
Hansel and Gretel in Gilliam's The Brothers Grimm (2005)
Переглядів 25 тис.7 років тому
Short clip from the 2005 movie The Brothers Grimm by Terry Gilliam. The Grimms (who were actually important linguists) are reimagined as two crooks, scamming superstitious people by making believe they solve their supernatural problems. Quite a lucrative business until they are asked to look into something that might actually be magical. The people and occurences they come across appear as insp...
The Hunger - Tonal Montage
Переглядів 3,4 тис.7 років тому
Tony Scott, Ridley's brother, is responsible for this vampire cult classical from 1983. Shown is part of the opening sequence of the film, during which he employs something related to Eisenstein's tonal montage. The combination of images invoke an emotion as a whole, rather than in isolation.

How I love this movie! ❤ And never forget the moment later on in the kitchen scene when I heard Beim Schlafengehen with Jessye Nornan and I screamed at the theater that's Jessye! A fabulous movie with greate actresses and music! ❤❤❤
Nicole Kidman is truly wonderful in this.
She’s an icon love Glenn close she’s been nominated 8 times for an Oscar and still gets roles more than a winner.
beautiful woman
I think nova corp forgot to check if nova prime had a criminal record…….or multiple criminal records
Does someone know the name of the lullaby? The one the man is humming at the end?
Live-action movies need more villains like this. Pure evil for the sake of being pure evil. Classic.
she is absolutely beautiful too
THIS IS NOT A MONTAGE 😢
Infectious just like Ursula’s laugh. 😂😈
such a beautiful laugh 😍😍
Me when people worry about climate change.
That pose and the foot stomping making it obvious how tickled she was by wearing someone's dogs. If I'm a villain I want to be as iconic as that.
she is so beautiful
love this sequence, it looks like life is a coincidence
I keep showing people this movie they still love it 😎
“Mrs Dalloway is always giving parties to cover the silence”
This live action remake scene is spot on to the Original Animated film of Cruella De Vil's character
Shutup, Ger
it's so cray cos when i read that book it felt so un-filmable, but they did a terrific job, TERRIFIC!
She is a very talented actress, no question about it!
and beautiful as Cruella
Me acabo de dar cuenta que personajes secundarios claves son quienes nos introducen en los protagonistas. Me encanta!!!
Phenomenal book and film. Both are beautiful haunting and devastatingly sad. Such a powerful story. We are more connected to each other than we think we are

My top 3 favorite villain laughs: 1. Pat Carroll's Ursula. hands down she wins the gold. Rest in Peace, Pat. 2. Glenn Close's Cruella De Vil. She comes in at a very close second, she can't touch Ursula. 3. Margaret Hamilton's Wicked Witch of the West. WWoW is my all time FAVORITE villain, but her laugh comes in at a solid 3rd place on my list. Rest in Peace, Margaret.
Cruellas is so seductive
@@passingthrough5102 It does sound seductive in the beginning, but then it rises as she goes into a psychopathic episode.
2006 movie 2016 upload 2026 back to 2006
Time stamp in the movie is 50:19
name of the piece ?
Morning Passages, from the soundtrack of the film The Hours (composer: Philip Glass).
Give Glenn Close ALL the Oscars for THAT performance. 👏👏👏👏
That maniac, crazy laughing and stomping SOOO PERFECT
beautiful
"It wasn't that funny."
Only Pat Carroll, who voiced the witch Ursula from The Little Mermaid, can compete with her in laughter🔥🔥🔥
People really are killing animals and making fur coats with them
Cruella looks beautiful in them
She’s a legend she’s a icon and she is the moment
Wendy Williams
she is beautiful
And I thought Chucky had a creepy evil laugh.😨😨😨😨😨
this is seductive
Did i miss anything? All I see are redirected shots of the woman listening to gossip about herself along with shot/reverse shot in the concersation. No intellectual montage here.
Not a montage AT ALL, SMFH
This music is fundamental in this scene, a real protagonist.
Don’t mess with the insane. They’ll make your dog a coat.
Stephen Daldry make a beautiful drama,movie !!!
Virginia Woolf change life,s character's,s ,these woman,s means writing!!!
Music of Phillip Glass is unvelialable !!!
Is it me or does she sound more menacing then the Wicked Witch of the West
The best cackle ever

@@passingthrough5102yes she is
Absolutely stunning, didnt expect her voice to mimic Tallulah Bankhead voice in addition to her laugh.
Love this movie
Best villains laugh ever
Greatest actress of all time.
How can she be so evil if she’s laughing all the time?
haha gorgeous woman
After how many years she gives children nightmares. I LOVE IT!

Ginger
Mark Hamill's joker laugh is the best ever
"I can't think of anything more exhilarating than a trip to London." Haha. I always loved that line.
That scene still gives me the Creep even today !!
